Philly: Main Line Adventure Le Fin

For our last day on the Main Line we definitely made the rounds. Breakfast in Exton, antiquing in Chester County, and shopping for dinner back home. After this it was nice to finally get back to Small Town, PA for dinner supplied by our daily activities.

(Look for my portabella mushroom ravioli with turkey sausage, tomato cream sauce tomorrow!)

On Sunday morning we could no longer endure our free continental breakfast another day so we met Aaron and his mom at Nudy’s CafĂ© at the Eagle View Town Center in Exton, PA. We got there around and we were glad we did. This place is definitely an after church breakfast place and soon after there was a wait. We were able to snag a table outside and enjoy our breakfast.

Our selections included: Salmon and Eggs Florentine; Raisin Bread French Toast; Egg Sandwich with Home Fries and Sausage; and Two Eggs Scrambled with Fresh Fruit.

After breakfast we went around to some of the antiques shops around Chester Springs, PA that were off-the-beaten path. Our favorite kind.

Sadly we got to look but two out of three were closed so we will have to come back again another day.

Our final stop before heading home was Montesano Borthers Italian Market in Eagle, PA. (Chester Springs mailing address.)

Every time we go to this area we stop by this little family owned market and deli. And trust me, we can never get out of there without buying something. Of course, with good reason. A part from the Italian Market in South Philly, this place has no equal. In fact, there motto is “bringing 9th Street to you.”

So we got out of there with a bill of $90 which included:

Prima Donna Cheese
Gouda
Parmesan
Two Packages of Portabella Ravioli
Italian Chicken Sausage
Horseradish
A giant loaf of Italian bread
Two footlong Italian Subs
Two packages of fresh pasta
And I am sure I missed something…

Boy, did they see us coming. But no complaints here!

This place can either feed you right there with their delicious deli food or give you the tools to make a great meal at home. What could be better?

I couldn't do this trip justice without mentioning our Friday lunch spot, Ludwig's Oyster Bar & Grille, one Aaron and his family's favorite spots. The first place we stopped on trip was this restaurant/historic house in Chester Springs, PA. We were absolutely starving when we arrived for lunch. In the middle of construction to their dining room, we were seated parallel to the bar in a quiet spot.

Starting off with Spinach Artichoke Dip with pita bread, we dug in. This dish was incredibly rich and a stand out from the standard version. It was tangy and cheesy and not sickening like some chain restaurant versions.

Our meals included: Chicken Curry Pita Sandwich; Broiled Crab Cake over fresh vegetables; Turkey Reuben Sandwich; and a Fried Oyster Sandwich.

Overall it was an enjoyable lunch experience that left me stuffed. Their famous oysters make great sandwiches or shooters. If you find yourself here, try one of these.

I also recommend the Jewish Apple Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce. Yum.

I hope you enjoyed some of my "reviews on a run" of the Main Line.

Tomorrow I will get back to Small Town, PA for a ravioli recipe you won't want to miss!

Enjoy!

Love,

The College Cuisiner
